Legendary former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has given his backing to a global online auction which is supporting the League Manager Association Charity.
The Ultimate Charity Auction, which ends at 4pm on Wednesday 13th December, has attracted glittering prizes from household names in sport, celebrity and lifestyle.
Among the perfect presents and money-can’t-buy experiences are a 15-minute meet-and-greet with Sir Alex Ferguson in his private lounge at Old Trafford as well as two tickets to see Manchester United take on Stoke City on Monday 15th January.
Other great prizes include a chance to watch Barcelona train and then play at the Camp Nou or star – as a player and manager – in the next instalment of Football Manager.
Now one of the biggest managerial names of all time has spoken of his delight at supporting the auction, which has raised more than £980,000 for national and local charities since it was launched in 2012.
Sir Alex said: “I am delighted to once again be backing the Ultimate Charity Auction and, especially, it’s work with the League Manager’s Association. I look forward to welcoming the winning bidder to Old Trafford.”
This year, the beneficiaries of the Ultimate Charity Auction will be the League Manager Association Charity – In The Game, and the GeeWizz charitable foundation, headed by veteran fundraiser and auction founder Gina Long MBE.
In particular, the auction will support those battling mental health problems in football and, through GeeWizz, young people and families living with a disability or cancer.
This year’s fundraiser has once again attracted the cream of the football world with prizes donated by Manchester City, Manchester United, PSV Eindhoven, Arsenal and Chelsea.
Gina said: “The Ultimate Charity Auction has always captured the imagination of both donors and those bidding on the fantastic money-can’t-buy prizes.
“We are on course for another fantastic auction raising thousands of pounds for some very worthwhile causes.
“We would urge people to help us spread the word as money raised from the auction will really make a difference to the lives of the people we support.”
Richard Bevan, chief executive of the League Managers Association, said: “We are delighted to be one of the beneficiaries of the auction once again this year.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the Ultimate Charity Auction over the years. We never take this for granted and the money raised always make such a big difference.”
Other fantastic lots this year include a chance to record your own single in a renowned Buckinghamshire recording studio, front row seats and lunch with Jeremy Kyle, a rare Beatles photography package courtesy of renowned photographer Tom Murray, a VIP experience for four people at the Badminton Horse Trials and a Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday experience.
