telent awarded maintenance contract for Anglia rail franchise

telent today announced it has been awarded the National Express East Anglia rail franchise retail communications maintenance and support contract.

telent’s highly skilled telecoms engineers are responsible for maintaining the information and communication systems at the 168 stations across the franchise.

telent engineers will provide a 24/7/365 maintenance and support service covering CCTV, public address systems, public help points and Station Information and Security Systems at all stations in the franchise; covering Liverpool Street station in the City of London to destinations in Essex, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk and Norfolk.

telent is using its own Transport Maintenance Management System (TRAMMS) and Service Centre in London’s Docklands to co-ordinate operations.

Steve Pears, General Manager Rail at telent, said: “We are delighted to have won this competitive bid to support National Express in East Anglia. We are working with National Express to implement a plan to drive down fault levels across the stations to ensure a better service for their customers. This contract award continues to build our presence as a deliverer and maintainer of Station Information and Security Systems across the whole country.”

Gary Rodway, Contracts Manager at National Express East Anglia, said: “telent was able to demonstrate clearly to us that it was the company in the best position to provide National Express and its customers with the high levels of service they demand. We are working well together and continue to improve services in the East Anglia region.”

telent is already successfully delivering a major project in the East Anglia region. In September 2008, the company was awarded a contract from Network Rail to upgrade Station Information and Security Systems on 80 stations under the South East & Anglia Framework. The project, which covers all servers and PCs, will be completed in August 2009.
