The Richard Mille Polo Team won the Silver Cup of the 40th BMW International Polo Tournament held at Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande.
Ten-goaler Pablo Mac Donough scored the decisive point with a 40-yard penalty conversion a few seconds before the end of last chukker, beating team Ayala 9 to 8.
The Richard Mille Polo Team will now enter the last and most prestigious part of the tournament, the Gold Cup, whose final will be held on Saturday 27th August. Patron and 2-goaler P.M. Bahar Jefri, 5-goaler Valerio Zubiaurre, 3-goaler Oliver Cudmore and 10-goaler Pablo Mac Donough will play their first match on Friday 19th August.
Whilst competing on the field the whole team wears a Richard Mille watch, a limited edition RM 010 featuring an ‘all black’ DLC-treated case and red dial in line with the team’s official colours.
The Team made its debut at Cowdray Polo Park in May and completed a successful first season in UK’s most prestigious tournaments, the Queen’s Cup and the Gold Cup. The Silver cup in Sotogrande signals the team’s first victory in official high-goal tournaments.
“It’s a great achievement for Richard Mille’ says P.M. Bahar Jefri. “Qualifying for the Queens Cup semifinals in England and winning the Silver Cup in Spain shows that our team is already competitive in its very first season. We still have the Gold Cup to play for here in Sotogrande and after then we will start thinking about next season.
