The European operations of IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants) is pleased to announce the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) in the former Soviet Union. These agreements strive to further best practices in management accounting and IMA’s Certified Management Accountant (CMA®) credential in the region.
Russian Association of Controllers (RAC)
During the Annual Congress of the International Group of Controlling (IGC), held in May in Budapest, IMA signed a MOU with the Russian Association of Controllers (RAC). One of the main goals of the RAC, which is based in Moscow and founded in 2001, is to promote the philosophy and methodology of controlling in Russia. The decision to sign a MOU between RAC and IMA was made during the International Controlling Congress in December 2014.
Professor Sergey Falko, head of RAC, said: “We are certain that the signed MOU will contribute to developing the cooperation between RAC and IMA and implementing joint projects with the participation of the IGC.”
Nina Michels-Kim, CMA, director IMA European Operations, is also confident that the MOU will benefit both organizations: “The MOU will help our mutual interests of promoting the management accounting profession and increasing awareness about activities and resources of both organizations.”
KIMEP University
In addition, IMA also signed a MOU with KIMEP University in Kazakhstan. KIMEP, founded in 1992, is recognized by the Independent Kazakhstan Quality Assurance Agency as the best university in the category of humanitarian-economic universities. The purpose of the MOU is to hold joint events for KIMEP’s students, alumni and IMA members and promote the higher education and professional development in business education.
Gyulnash Wild, IMA Europe business development manager, who received her MBA at KIMEP, met with Dr. Yuliya Frolova, CMA, IMA Campus Advocate at KIMEP and Board member of IMA Kazakhstan chapter, to explore collaboration opportunities between IMA and her Alma Mater. “The MOU with KIMEP University gives our members the possibility to expand their network at joint events and deepen their knowledge in business education,” she said.
Dr. Ha Jin Hwang, dean of KIMEP’s Bang College of Business, said: “Signing a MOU with IMA will add value to our school’s programs and offer our students opportunities to earn the prestigious CMA credential.”
