“Desperate” to sell Defoe

Liverpool Manager Rafael Benitez claims Champions League chasers Tottenham Hotspurs are “desperate” to sell England Striker Jermaine Defoe.

Newspaper reports have linked Liverpool’s French striker Djibril Cisse with a move to White Hart lane for a fee around £ 8 million, possibly exchange for Defoe who has spent most part of the season on the bench. When Benitez was asked about the rumours linking Cisse with a move to Tottenham, Benitez told reporters.” They are desperate to sell Defoe. They are trying to sell the player, they try to use Cisse in the middle .I don’t know why, it is not our problem. They always talk about (Cisse) and Defoe.”I have said before they are desperate to sell Defoe and try to do something”. Benitez also added he was not looking to change his strike force at the moment after seeing them hit form.” I am happy with my strikers,” he said.
