findaTVexpert.com shortlisted for Nectar Small Business Award

findaTVexpert.com, the online database of experts for TV and the Media, has been shortlisted in the first national Nectar Small Business Awards.

Founder and ex TV producer Claire Richmond entered findaTVexpert.com into the Nectar Small Business of the Year category and is now in with a good chance to scoop the final prize.

They say the simple ideas are the best ones and findaTVexpert.com is as simple as it gets: it gives experts who want to be considered for TV&Media opportunities the chance to showcase their skills to the industry – and members of the media a fast and easy way of finding experts to comment on a subject or be part of a show. From architects to zoologists and everyone in between โ€“ doctors, dentists, designers, criminologists, marine biologists, psychologists, historians, businessmen, tradesmen, etc โ€“ because you never know what the industry will be looking for next.

Having spent 15 years making and developing TV programmes, running TV channels and looking for experts, founder Claire Richmond was convinced this was a service the experts needed and the industry wanted. So much so that she turned down a contract to produce โ€˜Donโ€™t Get Done Get Domโ€™ for BBC1 in August 2007 to live off savings and get it off the ground. And she was right. findaTVexpert.com launched on the 28th of April 2008 and has been going from strength to strength ever since. More and more members of the media are registering to search the site every week and experts are being found and booked for interviews, screentests and other media opportunities.

โ€Iโ€™m delighted that findaTVexpert has been shortlisted for the Nectar Small Business Awards,โ€ said Richmond. โ€œI think itโ€™s a great business and so do experts and members of the media. The fact that the Nectar Judges agree is the icing on the cake.โ€

findaTVexpert.com was just one of many hugely successful and dedicated small UK enterprises that entered the Nectar Business Small Business Awards which were set up to acknowledge and celebrate the successes and achievements of small and medium sized businesses all over the country.

A panel of expert judges which includes Karen Hanton, founder and CEO of toptable.co.uk, Guy Clapperton, small business journalist and regular contributor to The Guardian, Financial Times and the Sunday Telegraph, Charlie Humphreys, Head of Nectar Business and Richard Carvell, General Manager at Viking Direct, part of the Office Depot, Europeโ€™s largest stationery business, will now choose the three final winners.

Each winner will receive not only the recognition they deserve for all their hard work, but also a prize fund of ยฃ2,000 and 50,000 Nectar points.

Charlie Humphreys, Head of Nectar Business which has founded the awards says: โ€œEveryone who runs a small business, especially in the current climate, has to work extremely hard to get it off the ground and make a success of it. These awards represent a fantastic opportunity to celebrate great business ideas, business practice and people and I would like to wish everyone who has been shortlisted so far the best of luck.โ€
