Champagne reception to honour Darvish Fakhr’s solo exhibit at EOAGallery, Battersea. Wednesday Oct 15th 11.30-13.00. The show, Palimpsest, runs from 4th September until 8th November 2014.
Fakhr’s nine-panel painting of Akram Khan is in the National Portraits Gallery permanent collection and, among other awards, he won the BP Portraits Travel Award to Iran.
A graduate of The Slade he has lived and painted in Brighton for the past 15 years and is an active member of the Sussex Arts Club where he sometimes gives lessons.
On Wednesday Oct. 15th there will be free transport from the South London Gallery Event at 11am. Return transport to the Frieze at 13.00 with advance notice.
Edge of Arabia Gallery was established in 2009 as a gallery platform for artists working between the Middle East, Europe and United States.
EOA supports artists in developing new projects including limited edition fine art prints and special commissions.
This exhibit is inspired by the walls of contemporary Iran where uncensored communication is possible: politics, stories even obituaries. Eschewing design and decoration Darvish boldly focuses on the humanity of his mostly female subjects.
DF: The Walls are witnesses to what they see.
On the surface, or else buried beneath multiple layers of paint, DF presents brief apercus of recent Iranian history, each one suggestive of its relationship to the present.
