Carillion telent joint venture signs support services contract extension with BT for Broadband Delivery UK potentially worth up to £500 million

A Carillion telent (60:40) joint venture has been appointed as a preferred supplier by BT to support the delivery of its Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) programme to 33 local authority regions.

Carillion telent will work with BT on the BDUK Programme for the next three and a half years.

The appointment has the potential to be worth up to £500m to the joint venture over this term, subject to performance.

The BDUK programme will deliver further improvements to the UK’s broadband network, with particular emphasis on making super fast broadband available to rural communities.

BT has secured contracts with local authorities across the UK to deliver broadband access in their areas and has appointed Carillion telent as its preferred supplier in 33 regions.

Providing a full turnkey approach to project manage, install and commission fibre to the home and fibre to the street cabinet, delivering BT superfast broadband to customers, the works include civil engineering, optic fibre cabling, poling and other infrastructure services.

The Carillion telent joint venture has been BT’s preferred infrastructure services supplier since 2010.

With annual revenues of over £300 million, telent has decades of experience in supplying a broad range of network and communications services. Today, the privately-held company employs approximately 1,500 people and has an engineering field force that covers the entire UK. Customers include: BT, Virgin Media, Sky, Arqiva, Vodafone, Merseyside Fire & Rescue, the Metropolitan Police, Transport for London, Network Rail, Train Operators, and London Ambulance Service.
