South Wales Chamber of Commerce welcomes Virgin to Swansea

More than 200 call centre jobs in Swansea have been announced by Virgin Atlantic…

Sir Richard Branson’s company is to open a new contact centre in Swansea, creating the jobs over the next two years.

It will be based at Alexandra House, handling UK and US calls, dealing with customer service and sales, as well as inquiries from members of Virgin Atlantic’s frequent flyer club.

Graham Morgan, Director of the South Wales Chamber of Commerce, said: “It is great news that a company of such global status and prestige, Virgin Atlantic, are going to open a call centre in Swansea.

“The news of 200 jobs is of particular excitement given the harsh unemployment reality Wales has faced during the economic downturn.

“It is clear from other major names housing their call centres in Swansea such as Lloyds TSB, HSBC and Acorn’s Business Centre that Swansea in West Wales is fast becoming an ideal setting for this industry.”

South Wales Chamber of Commerce is the ultimate business network in South Wales and now incorporates the West Wales Chamber of Commerce now representing over 1000 businesses and 100,000 employees.

The chamber exists to provide a regional voice and offer support to businesses pan South Wales.
