AFL Productions Unveils HOT DOZEN, Exploring a New Era for Independent Music Film Production

AFL Productions today unveiled HOT DOZEN – Season One, an independent Music Film Anthology created by producer, composer and filmmaker Yuri Volodarsky. The project unites twelve original songs with twelve standalone music films into a single entertainment experience, with every track accompanied by its own original film—demonstrating that large-scale visual anthologies are no longer the exclusive domain of multi-million-dollar studio productions.

For decades, projects combining an entire music album with original films were largely the domain of major artists, major labels and studio-backed productions. Today, advances in production technology are enabling independent creators to pursue projects of comparable artistic ambition and production scale. HOT DOZEN offers one of the clearest demonstrations of this shift.

The industry is already taking notice. Before its official release, films from the anthology earned multiple international honors, including Best Original Song for C’est La Vie and Best Music Video Director for Odessa-Mama at the Cannes World Film FestivalBest War Theme Film and Best Music Video for C’est La Vie at the Amsterdam Film Festival, and recognition at the LA Underground Film Festival.

“For years, projects of this scale belonged almost exclusively to major studios and labels,” said Yuri Volodarsky, founder of AFL Productions. “Today, technology has dramatically expanded what’s possible for independent creators. We now have the opportunity to pursue projects approaching the creative ambition and production scope once reserved for the world’s largest studios. HOT DOZEN is our contribution to that evolution.”

Spanning twelve distinct cinematic worlds, the anthology transports audiences across time, place and imagination—from medieval Scotland and the Soviet Union to the Jurassic era, timeless legends and contemporary satire—blending original music with drama, comedy, romance and fantasy into a unified entertainment experience.

HOT DOZEN – Season One is available beginning July 31, 2026.
