Hauppauge Digital Inc. September 7, 2015, Berlin, Germany — Hauppauge today announced its newest kit in their mySmarthome home automation line. The mySmarthome Lighting Starter Kit helps consumers get started automating their home lighting with an easy to install yet powerful kit. Using wireless Z-Wave technology, the kit includes the mySmarthome hub plus Z-Wave enabled LED light bulbs and wireless sensors to allow a consumer to set lighting schedules, turn on or off lights based on sensor readings, and receive alerts based on sensor readings via iPhone push alerts or e-mail alerts.

The newest member of the Hauppauge mySmarthome family, mySmarthome Lighting Starter Kit controls and monitors the lighting in a home using Z-Wave technology with LED lights and wireless sensors

Designed as a DYI installation, the mySmarthome Z-Wave hub is connected to the Internet and the free mySmarthome Internet service. The LED lights and motion, temperature and other sensors are then connected wirelessly to the mySmarthome hub. Programming of mySmarthome is done through Rules and Scenes. Rules allow a sensor, such as a motion sensor, to turn on or off a set of lights. Scenes allow LED lights and other optional Z-Wave devices to be grouped together so they can be controlled with one action. The mySmarthome system also allows alert messages to be sent by e-mail or by iPhone/iPad push notifications.

Included in the mySmarthome Lighting Starter Kit are three Z-Wave enabled LED 60 watt light bulbs and a wireless, battery powered, 4-in-1 sensor which can detect motion, a door or window open or closed, temperature and ambient light. The Lighting Starter Kit can be expanded through the addition of other Z-Wave devices such as water detectors, smoke alarms, door locks and window shade controllers. Up to 200 Z-Wave devices can be added to a mySmarthome hub.

mySmarthome comes with free IOS and Android applications, available through the Apple or Android app stores. Use your smartphone to control mySmarthome LED lights and monitor Z-wave devices around your home. You can give common names to each mySmarthome device to make it easier to quickly control them from your smartphone. Whether you want to turn on a light in your home from your office or switch on the kettle in the kitchen, it’s all now possible directly from any Apple or Android Smartphone or Tablet.

Yehia Oweiss, Product Manager for mySmarthome home automation products said “mySmarthome devices are just some of the many Internet of Things (IoT) devices which are available today. IoT are groups of connected sensors and controllable devices which can be accessed from the Internet. The number of IoT devices used throughout the world is expected to explode over the next few years.  According to a report published by the Gartner Group: “The Internet of Things (IoT) … will grow to 26 billion units installed in 2020 representing an almost 30-fold increase from 0.9 billion in 2009” “IoT product and service suppliers will generate incremental revenue exceeding $300 billion, mostly in services, in 2020. It will result in $1.9 trillion in global economic value-add through sales into diverse end markets.”  Source:http://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/2636073
