On April 2, 2015 the business and assets of HCB Publishing Ltd were acquired by Cargo Media Ltd, a company within the St James’s House Group.

Cargo Media will continue to publish the monthly HCB magazine, and continue to provide industry with business-critical information through the HCB Live website and HCB Weekly newsletter.

The change of ownership will provide HCB with the financial backing to explore new markets and territories and to enhance its information delivery to readers. Plans are already in place to publish HCB Monthly by way of an e-zine, delivered to all 23,000 subscribers to HCB Weekly, as well as in hard copy. Further ahead, HCB will be launching HCB TV and its own branded events.

Long-time editor Peter Mackay, with nearly 22 years at HCB, will remain at the helm, aided by existing and new contributors, to make sure that HCB’s 35-year reputation for editorial integrity is unaffected by the change. Cargo Media will be applying its experienced client liaison team to seek out new promotional opportunities for clients and expand HCB’s global circulation.

Meanwhile it is very much business as usual, with the HCB team out on the road to meet industry partners at the spring events, including FPS Expo, ILTA, COSTHA, Transport Logistic, FECC Congress and the VCA Dangerous Goods Seminar.

HCB, formerly Hazardous Cargo Bulletin, was established in 1980 to provide those involved in the transport, storage and handling of dangerous goods with business-critical information, particularly in the fields of regulatory compliance, safety management and environmental protection.

St James’s House Group is one of Europe’s leading bespoke media companies, working across various industries on global marketing campaigns and strategies. It is currently overseeing production of the commemorative album and launch event to mark the 750th anniversary of the UK parliament.
