Deborah Jeff, the Founding Partner and Head of Family at Seddons Solicitors in London comments on the reported divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Deborah JeffCelebrity divorce lawyer Deborah Jeff says: "While another showbiz divorce makes headlines, it’s reported that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise had a prenuptial agreement which, assuming it was correctly entered into, will govern the financial element of their separation. But divorcing celebrities are usually worried about two things: their money and their reputation. The private oddities of some in the world of show business and how this would impact on their public persona is particularly vulnerable in a celebrity divorce.

"If the information about Tom Cruise in the media over the years is to be believed, his divorce lawyer will want this wrapped up quickly with a water tight privacy clause to prevent Katie Holmes talking about the very private details of their marriage. Often, that privacy clause is worth more than the celebrity has earned to date as it guarantees their career is protected from any unsavoury details being leaked to the press.“
