Arqiva chooses telent as a Strategic Partner for nationwide build projects

telent, the technology services company, has been chosen by Arqiva as a Strategic Partner for its Site Share build projects, representing a significant contract for telent within the wireless telecommunications market.

Arqiva, the communications infrastructure and media services company, has selected telent to provide design, rigging, build, installation, commissioning and integration services as well as necessary decommissioning and recovery services at tower and rooftop based sites.  This encompasses new build and upgrade Site Share projects.

โ€œThis requirement was driven by a need for us to rationalise our supplier base,โ€ commented Stephen Egerton, Site Management Director at Arqiva. โ€œtelentโ€™s experience in radio and microwave build projects, as well as their understanding of our processes, standards and systems makes them an ideal delivery partner .โ€

telent (www.telent.com) has worked with Arqiva for a number of years, providing various services relating to site rationalisation and microwave solutions. telent also provides Arqiva with implementation services associated with the UKโ€™s switch over to digital TV (DSO), as well as delivering build services in support of Arqivaโ€™s involvement in Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB).

telent will use its range of Management Tools and Systems to support the operational delivery of this contract, and integrate them with Arqivaโ€™s own systems where necessary.

Adrian Squires, Head of Field Operations at telent said: โ€œField Force Enablement (FFE), telentโ€™s workforce mobility system, uses a dynamic scheduling engine linked to a GPS (Global Positioning System) located PDA, to ensure the right engineer with the correct skills, arrives the right place, at the right time to complete the work on-site, maximising the utilisation of our large-scale, flexible and efficient national field-force.โ€

โ€œBy combining FFE further with our on-line Logistics Ordering and Asset Management Systems, we will maximise asset reliability for Arqiva, whilst providing performance improvements with full end-to-end service visibility,โ€ continued Adrian.

Mike Toole, Sales Director at telent said: โ€œThrough the delivery of this contract, we are confident we will provide Arqiva with sustainable cost benefits, along with mechanisms to ensure the continued pursuit of efficiency and value. We are delighted to extend our relationship with Arqiva and look forward to working with them as a Strategic Partner on this project.โ€

With annual revenues of over ยฃ300 million, telent has decades of experience in supplying a broad range of network and communications services. Today, the privately-held company employs over 2,000 people and has one of the largest engineering field forces in the UK. Customers include: Airwave, BT, EADS, Merseyside Fire & Rescue, the Metropolitan Police, National Express, Network Rail, Stagecoach, Tube Lines, and the UK Highways Agency.
