Welsh Fashion Goes Global

Welsh businessman Shelim Hussain MBE embarks upon a brand new, ethical clothing range.

Following the devastation caused by the Rana Plaza building collapse in Savar earlier this year, Bangladeshi born Welsh businessman Shelim Hussain MBE has determined that something good must come from the reportedly preventable events.

Working in partnership with Welsh Fashion Stylist and Image Consultant Wenda James-Rowe, and the University of South Wales’ School of Fashion, Hussain’s new venture will provide jobs and careers in Wales, as well as a direct ethical pay back for the work force in Bangladesh where the product will be manufactured responsibly.

University of South Wales Fashion Design Programme Leader, Irene Dee, said “We’re delighted to be working alongside Wenda and Shelim to produce a Welsh brand which will support and develop the Welsh talent that emerges from the University. This new venture will offer long term job and career opportunities to many and will be renowned for innovative design as well as high standards of quality, cut, and fit”.

Fashion Stylist Wenda James-Rowe commented “The Team will work with women to help realise their true potential by offering guidance, help and support when building a capsule wardrobe. We plan to offer a range of interactive styling services not yet experienced within the internet shopping arena. This fashion label will be an aspirational brand which supports and helps women to achieve an elegant and sophisticated look that many admire”.

Shelim Hussain added “It is apparent that supplier auditing must go beyond direct relationships with first-tier suppliers. For far too long the price paid by others for “cheap” clothes has been way too high. Our focus will be on selling high quality goods at a fair price and providing an excellent service. We pledge to put a stop to the entirely unnecessary and shocking “dying for a bargain”.”
