telent is delighted to announce that it has raised over £515,000 for children’s charity, the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children).

To reach this impressive milestone, telent staff, customers and suppliers have, over the last decade, participated in fundraising activities from bike rides and golf tournaments to more individual challenges like the London Marathon and even busking trips around Europe. That’s not to mention an endless list of raffles, cake sales and other local initiatives.

Many telent employees have also chosen to ‘Give As You Earn’ by signing up to the company’s salary donation scheme which provides a tax efficient way to donate each month.

NSPCC Director of fundraising, Paul Amadi said: “The NSPCC is delighted to have received over half a million pounds in donations from telent staff, customers and suppliers. Congratulations to telent on becoming a Guardian within our NSPCC Family supporter community. It’s a phenomenal achievement and all the funds raised have allowed the NSPCC to continue its vital work of helping to end cruelty to children.”

“I am deeply proud that we have raised over £515,000 for the NSPCC” said Mark Plato, Chief Executive Officer at telent. “We’ve been supporting the NSPCC since 1999 and have been extremely fortunate with the generosity of our colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners. I feel honoured to be a part of such an achievement and I would like to personally thank all those who have been involved for helping to put an end to child cruelty.”

With annual revenues of around £300 million, telent has decades of experience in supplying a broad range of network and communications services. Today, the privately-held company employs approximately 2,500 people and has one of the largest engineering field forces in the UK. Customers include: Airwave, BT, Deutsche Bahn, EADS, Merseyside Fire & Rescue, the Metropolitan Police, National Express, Network Rail, Stagecoach, Tube Lines, and the UK Highways Agency.

telent ’s joint venture with Carillion, Carillion telent, was awarded a £1 billion 7-year nationwide support contract by Openreach, BT’s local access business, in 2009 (www.carilliontelent.com).
