Bankers party for a charitable cause.

Boris Johnson has confirmed that he will be supporting the annual Square Mile Masked Ball for the third year in a row. The exclusive social event brings together the elite of the City and banking world to raise money for The Mayor’s Fund for London.

Held at the impressive venue of The Royal Courts of Justice this year, the event includes a champagne reception with champagne being provided by Louis Roederer. Guests will also enjoy a silver-service three-course feast, charity auction, amazing entertainment , dancing until late and luxury goody bags with contents provided from sponsors such as Montblanc and Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

The ball will also feature a world exclusive performance from the English National Ballet and an after party at private members nightclub, Bungalow 8.

Five hundred guests from City institutions will be joining the Mayor of London and sporting illusive masquerade masks for the black-tie event.

The highly publicised event is one of the few the Mayor chooses to partake in; likewise London’s most successful business men and women are proud to socialise, dine and dance the night away for a good cause with names that reads like a Who’s Who of the finance world.

The money raised from the auction goes entirely to the Mayor’s Fund for London, along with 50% of table sales, a charity founded by Boris Johnson and one whose cause is close to the heart of many Londoners. The charity seeks to help alleviate the problem of child poverty within the City and aims to improve the quality of life of London’s under privileged children.

“ Our partnership with Square Mile is really important to us. There are over 630,000 children in London living in poverty. As partners, we are determined to together make an impact on that figure.” Chris Robinson, CEO, the Mayor’s Fund for London.

The charity auction will be hosted by Sotheby’s Auctioneers – a testament to the high-value items that will be open for bidding on the night. Examples include: A 5* Aston Martin driving weekend and one-of-a-kind artworks from famous artists.

The venue for this year is the Royal Courts of Justice on the Strand. The grandeur of the building is an attraction in itself and will be dressed by Bespoke Events to resemble a Venetian palace, fit for a Masked Ball.

Rumours that Boris is set to dance the night away with the City’s finest at Bungalow 8 at the St Martin’s Lane Hotel are as yet unconfirmed.
