With the popularity of Antiques RoadshowBargain HuntCash in the AtticFlog It and other TV antiques programmes, there’s a growing appetite for the treasures of the past.

But how do you spot the genuine article from a reproduction? The Antiques Day Trip offers the chance to find out.

This exciting excursion runs from London to The Swan at Tetsworth in Oxfordshire. Well-known TV antiques experts Eric Knowles, Paul Hayes or Tom Keane will give an inspirational talk, sharing their wealth of knowledge & advising how to spot fake from fortune.

Afterwards visitors will be invited to put their new-found knowledge to the test by identifying and valuing a selection of items around the building.

The Swan, voted Britain’s finest antiques centre, is a former Elizabethan coaching inn – where Queen Victoria once stayed. It now boasts 40 showrooms packed with a dazzling array of furniture, silver, glassware, fine art, jewellery, ceramics and many other decorative pieces.

Trips run twice a month, on Tuesdays, between April and September. Costing £99 per person, they include transport via luxury coach and a fabulous two-course lunch in the The Swan’s French restaurant.

As well as individual bookings, organisers Wilson Picks can also arrange bespoke group trips and specialist talks.

Group trips are available for a minimum of 12 and the 13th person goes free with pick-up points arranged to suit the groups.
