Best Journalism School in Europe - 2006/02/10 19:33 Hi guys - I am toying with the idea of a masters in Journalism and would be very grateful for opinions on two topics:

1. how useful is a graduate qualification for starting in features journalism (not hardcore reporting) after a I class degree in european literature from Cambridge and one in literature/translation from the Sorbonne? Would I learn something really new and useful? Should I do one, even if I don't learn much, just for the sake of having the bit of paper?

2. If yes, which is the best school to go to? Which is the most prestigious? Which is the best people and the best fun? Is there any kind of multiligual journalism program where you'd be trained to write in several languages?

Thanks a lot in advance
Pierre

Re:Best Journalism School in Europe - 2006/02/16 03:31 Hi Pierre,

I think I might be able to help you. I have just graduated from the School of Journalism at City University London. It enjoyed excellent reputation and produces fine journalists. I did the international journalism degree as I am not British.

I would recommend this course but it is quite expensive.

Other recommended schools of journalism are Cardiff and Westminster (London.)

Look up these schools online and decide whichever one you like best. Feel free to write to me offline if you have any questions about City.

Best Journalism School in Europe - 2007/08/21 17:06
I have read where you were able to help the person who was inquiring about a masters and thought you may be able to help me as well.
I currently am an American military broadcast-journalist/ public affairs spcecialist and upon completion of my military service, I want to get my Bachelor's degree in Journalism(radio & television). Sinse I used to live in Europe I was interested in what the best programmes or universities are in Europe for an english-speaking broadcaster. Plus, I have heard that European schools are cheaper than those in the US and many are still just as good in quality. Thank you for your patience and advice.
